Points, exams and grades

Assignments and activities with pass thresholds

Everything that earns points during the semester but is not an exam is an activity: homework, a project, a seminar paper, a quiz or a lab report. Each activity has a deadline, a maximum score and, if you want, a minimum to pass, and its points count toward the course total automatically.

How it works

  1. 01

    Create an activity

Enter a name, deadline, maximum points and pass threshold. An activity can be for the whole course or for one group.

  2. 02

    Students submit

Students hand in their work with a file before the deadline, and you can discuss the submission in comments.

  3. 03

    Score it

The professor or assistant enters the points. The system does not accept more than the activity’s maximum.

  4. 04

    Points count toward the total

An activity below its threshold stays visible with a “Not passed” label, but it does not add to the course total.

What each role gets

Professor

Set the rules once and the system applies them to every student. You see the score table per activity and per group.

Assistant

You score the students of your groups, also in activities someone else created, without emailing spreadsheets to the professor.

Student

You see the deadline, your points and whether you passed as soon as the instructor enters the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an app for grading student assignments?

Yes. In ISEUS every assignment or project is an activity with a deadline and points. Students submit their work, the instructor scores it and the points count toward the course total automatically.

What is an activity’s pass threshold?

If you set a threshold above zero, an activity scored below it adds no points to the total. The real score is still shown, marked as not passed. A threshold of 0 means the points always count.

Can students upload a file?

Yes. Students can attach a file to an activity before the deadline, and both sides can leave comments on the submission.

How much does an activity count toward the final grade?

Activities have their own share of the course. Each result is calculated as points divided by the maximum, multiplied by its share, and rounded to two decimals.
